I decided to become a therapist for several reasons, one having been my first-hand experience with trauma: I had to undergo my own resilient journey, which taught me about the power of therapy, and that healing was possible. My experience with the racism and prejudice that comes with being Latina was another motivating factor: I knew that being a person of color could allow me to understand and validate other people of color and their unique experiences.
I feel that living and growing through these experiences has not only increased my ability to provide an empathetic and real approach to therapy, but also continues to inspire me to help others and empower them to live more authentic, happier lives.
As a clinician, my mission is to provide tools, genuine support and the faith that we all can overcome our past traumas and hardships. In the upcoming months, I’ll be sharing some of these tools and insights, as well as a few lessons learned from my own journey.
