Therapy for Women of the Church of Jesus Christ

Therapy for Women of the Church of Jesus Christ

You’re at the right place

As you’ve grown into a woman within the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints or LDS Faith, you’ve felt a lot of pressure to be perfect.

And it’s been a big point of tension for you to face choices that might make you question your role in the home.

You want to stand up and create a partnership with the people in your life, but you feel guilty about wanting more than what your community accepts as the norm.

You weren’t always this confused. If you could address your inner critics, you could have the clarity to find the best options for your life. It wasn’t like you to feel trapped or unable to plan your goals. In fact, you used to feel confident in the direction of your dreams.

Yet, somewhere along the way, you started to ignore your feelings and wants. You started feeling lost and felt like there was no compromise in your home life. You weren’t sure that your professional and home life goals could coexist so you started to wonder if you’d ever achieve the life that you had dreamt of.

Now here you are afraid you’re never going to achieve your aspirations, never going to

feel fulfilled as a Women of the Church of Jesus Christ and never going to feel accepted by church members.

A lot of the time you feel out of place and you’re not sure what your next steps are. Sometimes it

seems like you’re incapable of making the best choices for yourself and family. You’re disappointed that what used to be a happy life has deteriorated into something you don’t recognize.

You thought your experience in the church would be one of always feeling accepted and welcomed for your unique talents and abilities. However, you find yourself questioning whether you need to set aside your goals as a professional to live up to the LDS culture and the role that it places on women.

The Therapy for Women of the Church of Jesus Christ Process

Therapy for Women of the Church of Jesus Christ is intended to address and support your unique concerns as a member. Intake: Our first session together will be a full hour and will allow us to get to know each other more. I will ask questions about your past medical and family history and gather details about what brings you to therapy. By the end of this session, we have an overview of where we are headed in our therapy together.

Weekly Sessions: As we meet together for our regular sessions we will start to identify your goals and match them with the therapy approach that is going to suit you best. We will examine your culture and how your upbringing has impacted various parts of your life. We look at the ways your experiences have shaped your beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors so we can explore if they serve you.

Next, we collaborate to challenge and replace the ideas you have about your life with those that are healthier and more satisfying. We can do this through traditional talk therapy or through a specific approach called EMDR.

Termination: When you have met your goals, we will work together to define when the end of therapy will be and what that will look like for you. Often this means coming to sessions less often until you feel you are ready to stop completely. At the end of our time together, I will give you a customized list of resources to continue your work including books, worksheets, and apps.
